Synchrony Bank - Too busy to close my account
I had a Optimizer plus 1year CD with Synchrony Bank. On 12/31,2015 I closed my account via telephone .
I incurred a sizable penalty. Synchrony Bank decided not to close my account on 12/31 but on 1/5/16. I had to pay income taxes on interest I never received because the penalty was charged on 1/5/16 not 12/31/15 when I called. I was told that 12/31/15 was a very busy day and they could not have closed my account on that day, which no one bothered to tell me.
I spoke to Courtland Floyd (manager ?) and explained my dilemma.
He said he woul call back and never did. I now have to pay income taxes on income I never received.
Reason of review: Poor customer service.
