I opened an IRA for my dad when this was GE. They were helpful opening the account, not so helpful once the account was opened but tolerable.
When the bank became Synchrony, however, trying to get to a human who knows their "***" from their elbow is a 1/2 step from insanity.
Their automated answering system is a royal "PITA" and if you press zero until you get a "customer service" representative, you just might want to shoot yourself.
After a month -- yes, a month! -- of phone calls and correspondence, I finally got to someone who seems to know what they're doing which, in this case, is critical as it involves a minimum required distribution that needs to be done before the end of the year and, as of today, still requires two more sets of paperwork that they claim they cannot provide at one time but they promised to send via overnight service.
Needless to say, once the matter is resolved, we are pulling the funds from Synchrony.
Stay away from Synchrony; don't even consider them.
If you're looking for a bank with excellent product offerings and superior customer service, I recommend Ally Bank.
