I asked for a 10 day payoff on a loan with Synchrony and the answer I got was it takes 3-5 business days to run through a "Q", then it could be another 5-10 days for it to be faxed to my bank. ***

Hung up on payment call

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I called to make a payment on my account. I ran into some difficulties by being out of town and having to replace my phone. I called and when I got a customer service representative I was told that I need to be transferred to the loan department. I was transferred and heard thank you for calling synchrony and when and was then hung up on (literally heard the phone hang/ not disconnected).

I like that this customer give specific reasons for dissatisfaction. The review is polite, calm, has no swearing. He/she is more well mannered that whoever requires me to check "I have read and agree to the Pissed Consumer." This make the point about Synchrony--They called the consumer an impolite name, pissed, when a polite statement from Synchrony could have been calling the consumer, simply unhappy.

They charged my account when I didn’t have an open account with them

I noticed a transaction on one of my cards. So I call to verify and of course I didn't exist in the system. So she tells me to call my card to report fraud. I called my card we go to look for the transaction, and it MAGICALLY disappeared off my fckng card!!! Scam artists the lady was snotty and rude with me. I am very disappointed in the companies' customer service. I have nothing good to say.

Did not receive a Lowes bill in mail for May 2021. Missing making the payment was unintentional. When we recently received a Lowes bill in June, there was accumulated interest (under $3) and a $29.00 past due fee. My husband called. The Synchrony Rep waived the $29.00. Less than a week later, an email states they are not waiving the fee. I send their fee promptly. That concludes our business.

They ruin your credit without so much as having a conversation about why.

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
You are spot on! I had excellent credit paid accounts on time used my credit within reason and when I started using other banks with better interest rates so used them less and less and BOOM! They dropped my available credit by about 15,000 all at once and ruined my credit. I make 130,000 a year and have a 99.9 percent payment record over 20 years . So my view is that they are crooked as *** ! OBTW as soon as I paid them off and only used other banks and cards they had the balls to send me new cards with high credit amounts! What a bunch of snakes!

“ ruined my credit.” No YOU ruined your credit by playing the utilization game. They aren’t in the credit building business. Build your credit on a solid foundation next time.

Destroying my credit

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

Synchrony Bank has been purposefully negatively impacted my credit score. My income is around $140,000 year and my revolving debt is barely over 2k with solid payment history.

I have 3 lines of credit with synchrony via an Amazon Card, Discount Tire Card, and a Sam's Club Card.

With each account as I have paid down my balance they continuously reduce my line of credit.

Most recently, within the last 2mo I reduced my Sams Club CC balance by 50% and had over $1700 worth of available credit. Then a week ago, without notice, Synchrony reduced my limit to within $200 of my balance.

This exact same thing happened with the Discount Tire card of which I paid off in under a year.

Because of this my Transunion credit score dropped 89points because it appears like I have nearly 80% credit utilization.

I called Synchrony to inquire why they have done this to me with 3 separate accounts but they will not give me a direct answer. The explanation letter they send me in the mail is false and rubbish.

Credit Card 101- Banks will cut your limits if you’re not making them money. Paying balances down and/or not using cards Do Not make them money.

They only have so much credit to offer. They’ll move your limit to someone who will make them money. They don’t have to let you know when or why. YOU agreed to this when YOU accepted their card and terms.

They aren’t in the business to help maintain your credit or help others build. Yes, “you must work for them.”

That's strange because that's never happened with Discover, Chase, or Citi Bank Credit Cards. And the limit on this Synchrony Bank Sam's club card was reduced by 50% only 2mo after 1/2 the balance was paid for.

Additionally I have spoken to many professionals in the banking and Credit industry and every single one has been shocked that this has happened to me 3x. So I respectfully vehemently disagree with opinion. Additionally I didn't intend to discuss or debate with anyone who isn't Synchrony Bank.

My only intentions are to seek resolution as well as a warning to all other consumers. That Synchrony Bank is more of a risk than it is worth.

"That's strange" What so strange about that. Those are DIFFERENT entities.

No big revelation here. You did say something interesting. THIS BANK sees things differently. I'm guessing you're exaggerating at best, lying at worst if these so-call experts told you anything other than "that's how these people operate." "Experts" know-how banks like this and Comity operate.

If your score dropped because of this, it's being bolstered by your utilization metric. Look, just take the L, you're not talking to some fool who will believe your banal and witless story.

Everything that was said can be verified by a quick Google. Stop pretending access to a worldwide database isn't at our fingertips.

"Everything that was said can be verified by a quick Google. Stop pretending access to a worldwide database isn't at our fingertips." Uh huh yeah that's right...anyone can just Google anyone and get their income, credit history, and anything they want from the "world wide database".

Hahaha sure sure ok. Who exactly did you "google" again? Smh lol seriously nuts. Anyhoozies, like I've already mentioned but I'll repeat for this troll that there are thousands of similar complaints as mine filed with the BBB about synchrony bank.

Go ahead, test em out for yourself, you grown, but if you were my friend or family I would urge you to reconsider doing business with them.

That's all I'm saying. Out

LOL... If your credit is so awesome and you're making BIG bank, why are you wasting time with a stupid bank and card like this?

Why aren't you paying cash or better yet, using a different credit card? What kind of BIG guy like you have repairs done at Pep Boys?

Clearly, your feeling is hurt. A Big Man on Campus guy like you being told NO by a joke bank.

I just canceled my credit card with synchrony because they filed a false credit report to the credit bureau saying I was late 14 DAYS, again I say 14 DAYS with a payment, when I've had automatic pay and hadn't missed any payments at all. They recently changed their system and failed to update everyone auto-pay in their new system. I had a credit limit of $1200 on my Chevron/Texaco account for a couple of years and they lowers it to $900 just above what I owed them. They have some unethical business practices. Will never do business with them again. SYNCHRONY SUCKS !!!
